Crop production go/no-go recommendation
Expert Farmer has accompanied and guided a consortium of Mauritanian investors in assessing a 6,400 ha site near Lake Tambass for the development of large-scale wheat production. The mission aimed at confirming the site's development potential and steer strategic investment decisions.

Crop production go/no-go recommendation
The project faced challenges related to water access, soil fertility, infrastructure, and the need for climate-adapted agronomic strategies.
The evaluation enabled the client to refine his agricultural development strategy, prioritize investments, and plan a phased implementation aligned with local conditions.
Site and resource assessment
Our experts conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the site’s topography, soil quality, and climate conditions. We assessed water availability from the Senegal River and existing irrigation infrastructure, and analyzed energy access and logistical connectivity. The team also reviewed environmental and social/societal factors, including biodiversity and local community dynamics, to ensure sustainable development.
Agronomic and technical planning
Expert Farmer defined a crop strategy centered on irrigated wheat production, supported by rotational crops to maintain soil health and productivity. We evaluated irrigation technologies and recommended center-pivot systems for efficiency and scalability. Our team also outlined the necessary infrastructure, including storage, energy supply, and access roads, and proposed a phased development plan to optimize investment and operational readiness.
Strategic and operational guidance
We provided a roadmap for project implementation, including human resource planning, training programs, and equipment needs. Our recommendations covered environmental safeguards, stakeholder engagement, and risk mitigation. The mission concluded with a positive outlook on the site’s potential and a clear set of next steps for feasibility studies and business planning.
